Agriculture

The land in Katembe is very sandy as it is only 250 meters away from the beach. Our main focus is therefore to build up a sufficient humus layer so that the plants are adequately supplied with nutrients.

We prune our trees and bushes regularly and bring this biomass back on the ground and into the soil, we use organic household waste, composting, mulching. “No tilling” protects the naturally occurring microorganisms and microorganisms from unnecessary disturbances.

The soil is covered all year round and ideally something will grow everywhere. We believe in colorfully mixed beds and an abundance of plants that collectively support each other in growth. The diversity of the plants balances the pests and beneficial insects and promotes biodiversity.

In this way we not only protect nature but can also contribute to regeneration.
